Fake Journalist Held Over Anti-State Campaign

ISLAMABAD: A man identified as Fakhar Rehman has been arrested in Islamabad for running an anti-state campaign and spreading hostile narratives against Pakistan under the cover of journalism and freedom of expression.

Security sources said he had been involved for a long time in promoting propaganda against state institutions, national security, and Pakistan’s diplomatic role.

According to sources, Fakhar Rehman used multiple social media platforms to share content related to sensitive issues involving Balochistan, promote hostile narratives linked to Fitna al-Hindustan, target the Prime Minister with negative campaigns, and question Pakistan’s mediation role in regional affairs.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) took action and detained him as part of an ongoing crackdown against anti-state propaganda.

Security officials also stated that a social media account operating under the name “Islamabad Post” had been actively spreading anti-Pakistan Indian and Afghan narratives.

Investigations revealed that the account was being monitored by Indian RAW and Afghan-linked elements.

Evidence also showed Fakhar Rehman’s deep connection with this account, where he was actively involved as one of its administrators.

Authorities stated that no one, whether a journalist, YouTuber, or social activist, can be allowed to use media platforms to run campaigns against the state.

Strict legal action will continue against all individuals involved in activities harmful to national security.
