LONDON: England posted a massive total of 387/3 in their 50 overs against India in the decisive third ODI at Lord’s, set up by a record-breaking opening partnership.
Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell provided a dominant start, putting together 192 runs for the first wicket—the highest opening partnership for England against India in ODI history.
Bethell played an aggressive knock of 91 before falling to Prasidh Krishna, while Duckett went on to score a brilliant 141, featuring 18 fours and one six.
Following their departure, Jos Buttler and Joe Root accelerated the scoring. Buttler remained unbeaten on 41 off just 13 balls (hitting four fours and three sixes), while Root finished not out on 74.
The three-match series is currently tied at 1-1, with India having won the opener at Edgbaston and England securing a four-wicket victory in the second ODI at Cardiff.
Following the conclusion of this series, England is scheduled to host Pakistan for a three-Test series starting August 19.
