DUKI: A major rescue operation in Balochistan’s Duki district has concluded after 20 hours, with five coal miners pulled out alive from a collapsed mine and the body of a sixth worker recovered, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred late last night when a landslide trapped six miners inside a coal mine approximately 3,000 feet deep. According to the District Inspector of Mines, the workers were deep underground when the collapse happened, leaving them stranded without immediate means of escape.
Rescue teams were dispatched promptly after the incident was reported. After 14 hours of continuous effort, the first miner was brought out alive. Reinforcements were called in to intensify the operation, and after 20 hours, four additional miners were successfully rescued.
Authorities stated that the body of the sixth miner was recovered during the final stages of the operation, following which the rescue mission was officially declared complete.
No further details about the identities or conditions of the rescued miners have been released yet. Officials have launched a preliminary investigation into the cause of the landslide
