QUETTA :Leaders of various political parties including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Balochistan (JUI-B) Amir and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay, National Party Chief Dr.
Abdul Malik Baloch, and Awami National Party Balochistan President Asghar Achakzai—stated that political parties are moving toward forming a grand alliance to restore peace in the region.
During a press briefing at the Quetta Press Club following an all-parties meeting, the leaders demanded the dissolution of the Balochistan Assembly and the holding of free and fair elections so that the public can send their true representatives to parliament through the power of their vote.
To address the province’s challenges, an All Parties Conference (APC) will be convened in September under the leadership of JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, with invitations extended to representatives from all walks of life.
Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay stated that the third all-parties meeting, chaired by Asghar Achakzai, resulted in key decisions, including a demand for the government to immediately implement agreements related to the Ziyart incident and pursue dialogue to improve provincial conditions.
He criticized the current political setup, stating that side-lining established political parties and bringing in new faces has brought the state and Balochistan to the brink of destruction.
He emphasized that the province’s issues are political and must be resolved through political means rather than force.
Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch noted that during his visit to Islamabad, he presented a 17-point agenda to the government and stakeholders to resolve Balochistan’s burning issues.
He added that while foreign interference cannot be ruled out, the underlying distrust among local citizens must be addressed, pointing out that major highways connecting Quetta to Karachi and other provinces are no longer safe for travel.
ANP Provincial President Asghar Achakzai expressed deep concern over security failures and tragic incidents in the province, emphasizing that the provincial government struggles to secure even the Red Zone and Zarghoon Road.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to standing with the public, safeguarding constitutional rights such as the 1973 NFC Award and the 18th Amendment, and forging a united political front for a peaceful future.
