PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have expressed serious reservations over the distribution of provincial ministries, with some members warning of a possible boycott of the upcoming provincial assembly session if their concerns are not addressed.
The matter came to light during a meeting of the PTI parliamentary party held in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Chief Whip Akbar Ayub Khan. The session witnessed heated discussions and arguments among party members regarding the allocation of cabinet positions.
In this regard, there are several members of the provincial assembly reportedly complained that a number of districts had been overlooked in the formation of the provincial cabinet.
So far, the sources said some lawmakers maintained that equal representation of districts in the provincial cabinet was necessary to ensure political balance and strengthen party unity.
They warned that if the leadership failed to review the distribution of ministries, they could boycott the next session of the provincial assembly as a protest measure.
The development reflects growing internal concerns within the party at a time when PTI is attempting to maintain political stability and organizational discipline in the province. The party leaders, however, are expected to continue consultations in an effort to address the grievances of dissatisfied members and prevent further divisions within the parliamentary ranks.
The discussions were also held regarding the party’s planned visit to Adiala Jail on the following day. The sources stated that a strategy was finalized for the visit, and each member of the provincial assembly was assigned the task of bringing 100 party workers along to participate.
The parliamentary party meeting ended with calls for unity and coordination among members, while party leadership is likely to review the concerns raised over cabinet representation in the coming days.
