LAHORE: Lahore’s Sabzazar Police have registered a case following a complaint filed by stage actress Urooj against a man named Nasir Khan.
According to the FIR, the suspect initially befriended her, lured her with promises of stage drama work, and began visiting her home.
The actress alleged that taking advantage of their relationship, Nasir took her to his house, drugged her with juice, assaulted her, and recorded naked videos of her.
She stated that he is now using the footage to blackmail and threaten her with viral exposure. Police confirmed that raids are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
Records show that in 2024, the same individual, Nasir Khan, had opened fire in broad daylight at the actress’s home after attempting to force her into a relationship at gunpoint.
Showbiz and Crime: A Troubling Intersection
The distressing ordeal faced by stage actress Urooj highlights a grim and recurring pattern of security vulnerabilities, harassment, and targeted crimes confronting individuals in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, particularly theater and television artists.
In the spam of three years , as many as three TikTok Models have been bruttaly assassinated raising concerns to the safety of women associated to this industry.
Over recent years, public safety concerns for performers—especially women working in regional theater networks—have intensified due to stalking, violent extortion attempts, and severe boundary violations.
Because many artists maintain public profiles while operating within high-exposure local performance circuits, they frequently become targets of obsessive stalkers, unscrupulous producers, or criminal elements who exploit power dynamics and personal trust.
While high-profile incidents involving robberies, home invasions, and workplace harassment regularly make headlines, structural protections and rapid-response mechanisms for local artists remain inadequate.
