PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully conducted an intelligence-based operation against “Fitna al-Khawarij” militants in Bannu, resulting in the death of five terrorists.
Security sources confirmed that the operation was launched following intelligence reports regarding militant movement.
The killed terrorists were involved in attacks on security personnel and civilians, and were reportedly planning a major act of sabotage.
Several other militants were reportedly injured in the exchange of fire, and a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the scene.
A search and clearance operation is ongoing.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has commended the CTD for their successful action.
