QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of Kashmir, describing India’s Aug. 5, 2019, constitutional changes in Indian-administered Kashmir as illegal and a violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In a message issued on Kashmir Exploitation Day (Youm-e-Istehsal), Bugti said the annual observance serves as a reminder of the alleged human rights violations and hardships faced by the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
“The people of Balochistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle for the right to self-determination,” he said.
Bugti said Pakistan would continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of self-determination.
He added that a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute, in accordance with U.N. Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is essential for lasting peace and stability in South Asia.
The chief minister paid tribute to the resilience, sacrifices and decades-long struggle of the Kashmiri people, urging the international community to take notice of what he described as human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
He also called on the global community to play an effective role in ensuring that Kashmiris are granted their right to self-determination.

Bugti reiterated that the people of Balochistan would continue to express unwavering solidarity with the people of Kashmir and support what he described as their legitimate struggle until its successful conclusion.
