Chaman Phatak train blast kills 14, including three FC personnel

QUETTA: As per the official figures issued by Balochistan government, at least 14 people, including three personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), were martyred in a blast near Chaman Phatak in Quetta.

In this regard, women and children are also among the deceased, officials said, as rescue and security operations continued in the area.

The explosion occurred near a railway track, causing significant disruption to train services and prompting an immediate emergency response. The security forces cordoned off the site while rescue teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals.

In this sense, government officials of Balochistan condemned the incident, calling it a “cowardly act of terrorism” and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.

They stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible.

However, hospitals in Quetta were placed on emergency alert, and medical staff were directed to provide urgent treatment to the injured. So far, the authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of injured persons, though several are reported to be in critical condition.

Security agencies are collecting evidence from the scene as part of a broader counter-terrorism response. Train operations on the affected route were temporarily suspended.

Meanwhile, public reaction has been one of shock and grief, with condolences pouring in from various political and social circles. The senior officials have reasserted commitment to ensuring safety of citizens and restoring normal rail operations as soon as possible while maintaining heightened security across the province and surrounding areas immediately.
