British Parliament Lauds Pakistan’s Mediation Role in US-Iran Ceasefire

LONDON : The British Parliament echoed with praise for Pakistan on Tuesday, as members of the House of Lords formally acknowledged Islamabad’s pivotal role in brokering a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

During a session dedicated to international diplomacy, Lord Ahmed opened the discussion by emphasizing Pakistan’s growing stature as a peace broker. He expressed confidence that all members present, including government ministers, would recognize and appreciate the significant diplomatic efforts undertaken by Pakistan to de-escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Baroness Chapman of Darlington echoed those sentiments, offering direct gratitude to Pakistan for its constructive engagement. “I thank Pakistan for playing an important role in bringing the US and Iran to this point,” she stated, underscoring the value of Islamabad’s behind-the-scenes diplomacy.

The praise extended further when Lord Barber formally called on the British government to convey official congratulations to Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif. Lord Barber lauded the Prime Minister’s determination and persistent efforts to establish lasting peace in the region, describing the achievement as deserving of high recognition.

Adding to the bipartisan acclaim, Baroness Chapman reaffirmed her admiration for Prime Minister Sharif, stating that he has “done a great job and deserves praise and admiration” for steering the complex negotiations toward a successful outcome.
