Quetta: Candidates for the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) have issued a 10-day ultimatum to the provincial government, threatening large-scale protests if the vacant post of BPSC Chairman is not filled immediately. The position has remained unoccupied for three months, bringing all recruitment processes to a standstill.
Speaking at a press conference, candidate Najeebullah expressed deep concern over the institutional paralysis. “The youth of the province have pinned their hopes and dreams on the BPSC. It is their last hope for employment, dignity, and merit,” he stated. He accused the Balochistan government of being a “silent spectator” while the future of thousands of educated young people hangs in the balance.
The vacancy has halted examinations, interviews, and the release of results. Gulzar Baloch, another candidate, highlighted a critical consequence: “The delay in appointing a chairman has caused many candidates to cross the upper age limit, depriving them of fair opportunities.” He also criticized the government for its priorities, noting, “The Chief Minister keeps announcing employment opportunities but has not appointed a Chairman. The government’s attention appears to be focused only on tenders.”
The candidates are demanding the immediate and transparent appointment of a Chairman and the resumption of all merit-based recruitment. “We give the government a 10-day deadline to resolve our issues,” Najeebullah warned. “If our demands are not met, we will shut down the BPSC office and will not hesitate to stage a protest sit-in in front of the Provincial Assembly.”
