QUETTA: Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, has permanently suspended an account linked to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which Pakistan designates as the terrorist group Fitna al-Hindustan, over what officials described as repeated violations of the platform’s rules and community guidelines.
The suspended account, operated under the name Miryar Baloch, had repeatedly circulated what officials described as false and misleading information targeting Pakistan’s armed forces and state institutions.
Officials said the account also promoted narratives related to missing persons and content that encouraged or supported BLA violence and militant activities.
The latest suspension adds to a series of actions against accounts linked to the group. X had earlier suspended accounts operating under the names Bahot Baloch, Pirdan Baloch and Balochistan Facts after they repeatedly shared content that X officials said contained disinformation and misleading narratives.
Several users in Pakistan had also reported the Miryar Baloch account for allegedly spreading hate speech and disinformation, prompting enforcement action by the platform, officials said.
BLA Attacks Balochistan Trade Route
The suspension comes as the BLA faces renewed scrutiny over attacks on infrastructure in Balochistan.
Earlier, militants damaged several kilometres of the Kharan-Yakmach Road near Ari Kalag in Kharan, disrupting a key route and causing damage to public infrastructure, according to officials.
The road forms part of the Pakistan-Iran trade corridor linking Taftan with Karachi and serves as a vital route for local communities, transporters and businesses.
Security forces subsequently launched an operation in the area and killed several militants while recovering a large quantity of explosives, officials said.
The latest action by X highlights growing scrutiny of social media accounts accused of spreading disinformation and promoting militant narratives linked to the BLA.
