BANNU: Police, counter terrorism force and security forces killed five militants in a joint intelligence-based operation in Domel area of Bannu, security sources said.
One of those killed was identified as Ayub alias Ayubi, a highly wanted militant. The government had set a reward of Rs9 million for information leading to his capture or death.
Security forces launched the operation after receiving timely and credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the area.
Police and security personnel moved quickly to the suspected location and launched a targeted operation. They killed five militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij, according to security sources.
The death of Ayub Ayubi is being described as a major blow to the militant network. Security sources said the operation demonstrated the forces’ ability to monitor militant activity and act on intelligence in a timely manner.
The operation also highlighted coordination between police and security forces. The personnel surrounded the militants before they could carry out any major attack in the area.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies have vowed to continue operations against militant networks as part of Pakistan’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
The operation has also reinforced security in Domel and surrounding areas, allowing residents to continue their daily activities in a safer environment.

Local residents expressed confidence in the efforts of security forces and law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and security in the area.
A day earlier, a joint operation by Bannu Police, CTD, and security forces was also condcucted against Khawarij militants in various areas of Khara Ghora and Pang within the limits of Ahmed Zai Police Station, Sub-Division Wazir.
