QUETTA: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA), alongside Kachlak Police, conducted a joint operation on a tip-off from the Director of Operations, intercepting a passenger bus at the Kachlak Bypass to foil the supply of 300 kilograms of spoiled and unhygienic chicken meat.
The sub-standard meat was seized before reaching the market and subsequently destroyed, and legal action has been initiated against those responsible.
BFA officials emphasized a zero-tolerance policy regarding unhygienic food distribution, reiterating their commitment to ensuring food safety and a healthy Balochistan.
In recent years, the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has intensified its regulatory oversight and enforcement operations across the province to safeguard public health and uphold stringent food safety standards.
Established to ensure the supply of safe, halal, and high-quality food, the Authority has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against violations throughout the food chain.
A core focus of the BFA’s recent operations involves cracking down on unhygienic and hazardous practices in commercial food supply.
This includes conducting intensive, intelligence-led raids in collaboration with local law enforcement to intercept the transport of spoiled meat, expired products, and sub-standard goods before they reach public markets.
Beyond transit routes, the Authority has expanded its crackdowns to target agricultural malpractices, such as the illegal cultivation of edible crops using untreated sewage water, moving swiftly to destroy contaminated yields and initiate legal proceedings against violators.
Furthermore, the BFA routinely inspects educational institutions, canteens, restaurants, and manufacturing units, penalizing non-compliant operators through heavy fines, license suspensions, or sealing orders.
By strengthening its complaint-handling systems and deploying dedicated food safety teams, the Authority continues to reinforce market compliance and accountability across Balochistan.
