Balochistan: Crystal ice worth Rs 110 million recovered from Mazda truck loaded with tomatoes

QUETTA: The security authorities have seized 10 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) during an operation in the Killi Kohlu district in what officials described as another significant success in the ongoing campaign against narcotics trafficking.

The operation was carried out by the Customs Enforcement Unit after receiving intelligence regarding the movement of illegal narcotics. During the operation, authorities intercepted a suspected vehicle and recovered approximately 10 kilograms of crystal meth concealed inside it.

In this regard, the government officials said the estimated market value of the seized narcotics is around Rs120 million (12 crore). Following the recovery, law enforcement personnel arrested three suspects believed to be involved in the trafficking network.

The authorities also confiscated 10 mobile phones from the possession of the detained individuals, which are expected to assist investigators in tracing the wider narcotics supply chain.

The seized drugs and other recovered evidence have been taken into official custody, while investigators continue questioning the suspects to identify additional individuals linked to the alleged smuggling network.

The officials focused on that narcotics trafficking poses a serious threat to public health, social stability, and national security. They reasserted that no leniency would be shown toward individuals involved in the illegal drug trade and that enforcement agencies remain committed to dismantling organized trafficking networks operating across the region.

The Customs Enforcement Department also reaffirmed its resolve to continue anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics operations throughout Balochistan.

In such a way, the authorities said coordinated intelligence-based actions would continue until the activities of drug traffickers and smuggling networks are effectively curtailed.

The investigation into the latest seizure remains underway, and authorities have indicated that further arrests cannot be ruled out as the inquiry progresses.
