PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided a hostel in the Tajabad area of Peshawar and arrested 14 Afghan nationals accused of obtaining fake Pakistani identity cards, officials said.
According to the FIA, the suspects paid agents between Rs2.5 million and Rs2.8 million to acquire forged national identity documents.
Investigators said the accused planned to travel to Saudi Arabia using fake Pakistani citizenship documents.
Officials also recovered counterfeit Pakistani passports from the suspects during the raid.
The FIA said a well-organized international network was involved in the operation, with links extending across both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Authorities added that the possible involvement of officials from National Database and Registration Authority and passport offices was also under investigation.
