LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars has released Abdullah Shafique from their Global Super League squad following their match against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in Guyana, where he scored 21 runs off 13 balls.
Bangladeshi player Shamim Hossain has been added to the squad in his place.
Abdullah Shafique is now heading to Trinidad and Tobago to join the Pakistan Test squad, where he was initially named as a replacement for the injured Abdullah Fazal.
Abdullah Shafique has established himself as a prominent right-handed top-order and opening batsman for the Pakistan national cricket team in the longest format of the game.
Making his Test debut against Bangladesh in November 2021, he has played 22 matches, accumulating 1,504 runs at a solid batting average of 38.56. His red-ball career is highlighted by composure under pressure, featuring 5 centuries and 5 half-centuries.
