Mohammad Waseem wins WBA gold in Quetta

QUETTA: Muhammad Waseem Wins WBA World Gold Title at Quetta’s First International Boxing Championship

In Quetta, Pakistan’s Muhammad Waseem claimed victory at the city’s first-ever International Boxing Championship.

The prestigious event, organized under the banner of the World Boxing Association (WBA), was held for the first time in South Asia at Quetta’s Polo Club.

The championship featured several world-renowned boxers who participated in various categories, including four title fights among a total of eight bouts.

Prominent winners included Jamie Kelly, Sohail Iqbal, and Alex Dilmaghani from the UK, Tarik Zaina from Morocco, and Jesus Saracho from Mexico, who all emerged victorious in their respective fights.

Additionally, Pakistani female boxers Fatima Hazara and Malaika defeated their fellow Pakistani opponents in thrilling matches.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Waseem made the nation proud by knocking out Venezuela’s Winston Orono in the ninth round to win the WBA World Gold Bantamweight Title.

Further Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, expressed great pride and satisfaction over the successful organization of the event.

He described the championship as a “welcoming and positive step” for Balochistan, stressing that it has sent a strong and encouraging message to the world about peace, hospitality, and the sporting spirit of the province.

 

The event has been widely appreciated both nationally and internationally, sending a strong message that Balochistan is ready to embrace progress, unity, and global engagement through sports and cultural exchange.
