Former RAW chief blames Indian security agencies for Pahalgam incident

ISLAMABAD: Former head of India’s intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Amarjit Singh Dulat, has blamed the Indian security agencies for the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), in which 26 tourists were killed and 20 others were injured.

Amarjit Singh Dulat said this while talking to British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). He called the Pahalgam attack a failure of Indian security agencies, adding that what happened in Pahalgam was a failure of Indian security agencies to prevent such incidents and provide security to the people.

Regarding the recent tensions between Pakistan and India, he said that the issues are expected to be resolved through talks and a formal war is not possible between the two nuclear countries.

Former chief of RAW added that it is regrettable to target Kashmiris for the Pahalgam attack, saying that Kashmiris are not to blame for the incident.

If a limited military operation like surgical strike or Balakot has to be carried out, it may be appropriate, but the talk of war is made in the context of nuclear weapons and it is limited to threats only, Dulat said.
