President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned a terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan, expressing grief over the loss of precious lives and offering condolences to the families of those killed in the incident.
The attack, which targeted a police checkpoint, also left several people injured, according to the statement provided by the authorities. The president and prime minister separately prayed for the speedy recovery of those wounded.
President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life. He conveyed his sympathies to the families of those who were killed and prayed for patience for the bereaved families.
Zardari said targeting civilians and law-enforcement personnel was condemnable. He also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by security personnel and law-enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism.
The president emphasized that eliminating terrorism was essential for maintaining peace and stability in the country.
President Calls for Stronger Counterterrorism Measures
President Zardari directed that operations against what the statement referred to as “Fitna al-Hindustan” and “Fitna al-Khawarij” be made more effective.
He stressed the need for measures aimed at protecting the lives and property of citizens and called for all necessary steps to be taken to eliminate terrorist elements.
The president also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of those who were killed and for the early recovery of those injured in the attack.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Condemnation
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the police checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan.
The prime minister expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the martyred police personnel and other victims.
Shehbaz Sharif said the sacrifices of the country’s defenders in the fight against terrorism would not be forgotten.
The prime minister said police and security forces were continuing to make sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and paid tribute to those who had lost their lives while protecting the country.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from Pakistan and said operations against terrorist elements would continue.

Shehbaz Sharif said every possible measure would be taken to strengthen peace and security in the country. He also prayed for the victims and for strength and patience for their grieving families.
