QUETTA: Security forces foiled a major joint attack by Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK) and Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH) on a police station in Ziarat district of Balochistan, killing at least 18 militants in an armed engagement, security sources said.
The forces engaged the militants during the attempted attack on a police station of Kach area of the district and killed at least 18 of them, the sources said.
Heavy weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the scene following the operation.
Security forces have launched an area-clearance operation to eliminate any remaining militant presence, the sources said.
The operation is part of ongoing security efforts to prevent militant attacks and disrupt the activities of armed groups in Balochistan.
Meanwhile, security forces killed a suspected militant associated with Fitna al-Hindustan during an operation in Balochistan’s Kech district, security sources said.
The militant was killed in the Mazaband Range, near the Pakistan-Iran border, the sources said.
According to the sources, security forces detected the movement of militants in the area based on confirmed intelligence. They launched a timely operation and thwarted the militants’ alleged attempt to flee into Iran.
The operation is part of ongoing security actions against militants in Balochistan, where authorities have stepped up efforts to prevent cross-border movement and militant activity.
Security forces remain committed to eliminating militant threats in the province and will continue operations against those involved in terrorism, the sources said.
