ISLAMABAD: Umrah pilgrims vaccination deadline extended by 15 days, giving travellers additional time to complete the required vaccination process and obtain digital certificates before travelling abroad.
According to officials, Umrah pilgrims who have not yet received the required vaccines can now travel without vaccination until October 10. The extension is aimed at providing greater convenience and allowing travellers more time to adjust to the new vaccination procedure.
Umrah Pilgrims Vaccination Deadline Extended as Digital Certificates Introduced
The Umrah pilgrims vaccination deadline extended decision was confirmed by focal person Dr Murtaza Shah, who said the additional 15-day period would give pilgrims more time to complete their vaccination requirements.
Authorities have advised travellers to complete their vaccination and documentation well before departure instead of waiting until the final days.
Influenza and meningitis vaccinations are mandatory for Umrah pilgrims, while the government is also moving towards a digital system for vaccination certificates for international travellers.
Vaccination records have been linked with the NADRA system to digitise certificates and help reduce the risk of fraudulent documentation.
Travellers can register for digital vaccination certificates through NADRA’s Pak ID app. Those unable to use the application can visit NADRA e-Sahulat centres for registration.
Vaccination Centres Face Pressure in Karachi
The introduction of the digital system has coincided with complaints about limited facilities at vaccination centres in Karachi. The Federal Civil Dispensary near the Old Terminal is among the centres providing vaccination services, but limited space has reportedly resulted in long waits and difficulties for passengers.

Some travellers have also raised concerns about delays in obtaining certificates, particularly when their flights are scheduled within hours.
Officials have advised passengers to approach vaccination centres at least 10 days before their international travel date.
Umrah pilgrims and other overseas travellers have called for more vaccination centres, additional staff and improved facilities to manage the increasing number of passengers and reduce overcrowding.
