QUETTA: A profound sense of shock and grief has gripped the provincial capital following a violent attack where militancy in Balochistan once again demonstrated its lethal reach, claiming the life of Director Agriculture Ghulam Sarwar.
According to DSP Saryab Talib Hussain, armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire near Green Town on Quetta’s Saryab Road before managing to flee the scene.
The victim sustained critical injuries and succumbed before reaching the hospital, while law enforcement authorities have cordoned off the area to launch an intensive search and investigation.
In a separate disturbing incident underscoring the deteriorating security climate, unidentified armed men abducted two local cricketers, Zakir Bugti and Wadan Bugti, from the Kachhi Canal area.
The victims, residents of Sui, were returning after playing a cricket match in Kandhkot when they were intercepted and whisked away to an undisclosed location. Police and security forces immediately deployed heavy contingents, sealing off entry and exit points to trace the perpetrators and safely recover the hostages.
