ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has dismissed reports circulating on social media about the withdrawal of the Rs10 currency note, calling them baseless.
The central bank clarified that it has not made any final decision to discontinue or replace currency notes of any denomination.
The SBP said authorities were considering a proposal to introduce new-design currency notes, but consultations on the matter remain ongoing. The proposal is currently under consideration by the federal cabinet, it added.
However, the central bank stressed that if authorities decide to discontinue or replace any existing denomination, they will formally inform the public before implementing the decision.
Moreover, the SBP said it would provide sufficient time for the public to exchange old notes if any denomination is eventually withdrawn or replaced.

The central bank urged the public to ignore rumours circulating about the Rs10 note and rely only on official SBP announcements for information regarding currency notes.
