LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab Assembly member Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif Jutt has died after suffering a cardiac arrest, family sources said.
Jutt, who represented the Chichawatni constituency, fell ill suddenly and was provided medical assistance. However, he could not be revived, the sources said.
Jutt was elected to the Punjab Assembly from PP-203 on a PML-N ticket.
His funeral prayers will be offered after Asr prayers at Azadi Chowk Stadium in Chichawatni on Thursday. Political and social figures, party workers and local residents are expected to attend.
Jutt had played an active role in Chichawatni politics. He also raised public issues from his constituency in the Punjab Assembly.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over Jutt’s death and offered prayers for the deceased.
He extended condolences to Jutt’s family and prayed for them to have patience and strength.
Sharif said Jutt’s services to the PML-N would be remembered.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also expressed sorrow over the lawmaker’s death.
She extended condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family.
