GIHEUNG: The Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro is reportedly set to receive a major display upgrade, with Samsung expected to equip the upcoming flagship with its next-generation M16 OLED panel. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is also tipped to feature the same advanced display technology.
According to industry reports cited by ET News, Samsung is preparing the M16 OLED panel for its premium Galaxy S27 models. The new panel is expected to bring improvements in brightness, power efficiency, durability and color accuracy compared with previous-generation OLED technology.
Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro Could Get Brighter and More Efficient M16 OLED
The M16 OLED panel is expected to offer several improvements over Samsung’s existing display technology. These could include higher peak brightness, better energy efficiency, a longer panel lifespan and more precise color reproduction.
If the reports prove accurate, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro could become one of the first Samsung smartphones to benefit from the company’s latest-generation OLED technology.
Interestingly, the M16 panel may not debut exclusively with Samsung’s Galaxy S27 lineup. Samsung and iQOO have reportedly confirmed that the upcoming iQOO 16 will also use the M16 OLED display. Reports have additionally suggested that Apple’s next-generation iPhone 18 Pro models could adopt the same panel technology.
Galaxy S27 and S27+ May Use M14 OLED Panels
While the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are expected to receive the M16 OLED panel, the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ could use M14 OLED technology.
Even so, the reported M14 upgrade would represent an improvement over the M13 OLED panels used in the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+.
This suggests Samsung could continue differentiating its premium Galaxy S27 models from the standard versions through display technology, while still offering upgrades across the broader lineup.
Galaxy Z Fold9 Series Could Also Receive a Display Upgrade
Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup may also benefit from the company’s next-generation OLED technology. The same report suggests that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold9 series could move beyond the M13 OLED panels used in previous models.

Samsung has yet to officially confirm the display specifications of the Galaxy S27 series. Until the company makes an announcement, details about the M16 OLED panel and the individual models should be treated as reported information rather than confirmed specifications.
