BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan fast bowler Razaullah has denied reports that he was issued a passport on an emergency basis after being called up to England for his Test debut.
Speaking to the media after the match, Razaullah said his passport had been issued about a year ago.
“First of all, it is incorrect to say that my passport was issued on an emergency basis. I already had my passport a year ago,” he said.
Razaullah said he had submitted his passport about a week before travelling to England.
At the time, discussions were also underway about his ability to play Test cricket, he said.
“We were discussing whether I could play Test cricket because I have performed in first-class cricket,” the fast bowler said.
He said he had scored both centuries and half-centuries in first-class cricket.
Razaullah rejected any link between his Test call-up and the issuance of his passport.
He said the passport had already been issued before he was called to England for his Test debut.
