QINGDAO: At least 25 people were killed after a fire broke out aboard a cargo ship undergoing repairs in the Chinese city of Qingdao.
The fire erupted at the Beihai Shipyard, where the bulk carrier Ocean Melody was undergoing maintenance.
Authorities said 42 people were aboard the vessel when the fire broke out.
Rescuers evacuated 12 people safely, while five others suffered injuries.
Emergency teams launched rescue and firefighting operations after the blaze was reported.
The 25 victims died in the incident, while rescuers took the injured to hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Officials said they would release further details after the investigation determines how the blaze started.
