DUBAI: Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10% of her match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during her team’s Women’s Asia Cup Group A match against India in Dubai on Saturday.
The Fatima Sana fine was imposed after she was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The provision relates to language, actions or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter after dismissal.
In addition to the fine, one demerit point has been added to Fatima Sana’s disciplinary record. It was her second offence within a 24-month period, taking her total to two demerit points during that period.
Her previous demerit point came during a T20I against Ireland in Dublin on Aug. 6, 2025.
The incident occurred after Fatima dismissed India opener Shafali Verma, who had started aggressively while chasing Pakistan’s modest total. Verma was dismissed off her sixth delivery after chipping the ball back towards the bowler.
After completing the catch, Fatima gestured towards the pavilion, which led to the code violation.
Fatima admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Supriya Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, no formal hearing was required.
Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum fine of 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

Despite the Fatima Sana fine and Pakistan’s heavy defeat against India, the team still has a chance to reach the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup.
Pakistan will face Hong Kong, China, in their next Group A match. A victory would secure their place in the semi-finals.
