LONDON: England secured an emphatic 194-run win against Pakistan, sealing a decisive Lord’s Test victory to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Chasing a daunting target of 389 runs on Day 4, Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed once again, being bowled out for just 194.
Earlier in the day, England was dismissed for 208 runs in their second innings. Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas delivered a standout performance with five wickets, while Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali picked up two wickets apiece.
However, combined with England’s substantial 180-run first-innings lead, the hosts set a formidable target for the visitors.
Pakistan’s second-innings chase started disastrously, tumbling to 14/3 with captain Babar Azam returning to the pavilion early. Saud Shakeel and Shan Masood temporarily anchored the innings, putting together a 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Masood fell for 27.
Shakeel fought valiantly to score 97, but received little support as the remaining batsmen contributed just 83 runs combined.
For the hosts, Ollie Robinson dismantled the Pakistani middle order with four wickets while Jofra Archer claimed three, paving the way for a swift Lord’s Test victory on the fourth day.
Replicating their struggles from the Leeds Test, Pakistan failed to reach the 200-run mark in either innings of the match.
The top-order vulnerability and lack of partnerships ultimately proved fatal, handing the hosts a comprehensive Lord’s Test victory.
