DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned UAE batter Asif Khan for 15 months after he admitted to violating the ICC Anti-Doping Code.
The 36-year-old tested positive for a metabolite of mesterolone, a prohibited substance, during an out-of-competition doping test conducted on September 8, 2025.
Asif admitted to violating Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code and accepted the sanction under an agreement with the ICC and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The ban has been backdated to September 8, 2025, and will run until December 7, 2026.
However, Asif will be permitted to resume team training from October 8, 2026. He will become eligible to return to competitive cricket from December 8.
The ICC has also disqualified his individual results from the period preceding the imposition of the ban.
Asif made his international debut for the UAE in 2022. Since then, he has represented the side in 38 ODIs and 56 T20Is, establishing himself as an experienced member of the UAE batting lineup.

The suspension will keep the veteran batter out of competitive cricket for the remainder of 2026, although he will be able to rejoin team training two months before the end of his ban.
