QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa has directed officials to accelerate the pace of ongoing development projects across Balochistan, emphasizing that infrastructure development remains a top priority for the provincial government.
Chairing a high-level review meeting regarding the progress and overall performance of the Communications and Works Department’s ongoing development projects, the minister underscored the department’s fundamental role in the province’s development and prosperity.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Communications and Works Babar Khan, Chief Engineer Federal Projects, Chief Engineers of all zones, newly appointed Chief Engineer Sibi Zone Mir Muhammad Khosa, Chief Engineer Makran and Rakhshan Zone Jahanzeb Panizai, and Superintending Engineers.
During the meeting, Secretary Babar Khan delivered a detailed briefing on the department’s overall performance, ongoing development projects, and other administrative matters. He informed the participants that the progress of development projects is being regularly reviewed to ensure timely completion by removing any technical or administrative hurdles.
The Secretary highlighted that the inclusion of 192 sub-engineers recently recruited by the Balochistan Public Service Commission has significantly improved the department’s efficiency and performance.
Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa acknowledged that work on development projects is progressing at a satisfactory pace. However, he stressed that in view of public interest, there is a need to further accelerate the pace of projects so they can be completed within the stipulated time and timely facilities can be provided to the public.
The Provincial Minister termed the effective and transparent utilization of available development funds during the last financial year as a major achievement of the department and appreciated the performance of the concerned officers.
Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa directed all Chief Engineers to regularly visit their respective zones, ensure effective monitoring of ongoing projects, and submit regular reports of their visits. Acknowledging the challenges during project implementation, he emphasized that officers must pay special attention to both speed and quality while facing these challenges.
The minister issued strict directives that ongoing mega development projects of important nature in the province should be completed within the stipulated time and that no compromise on construction quality will be tolerated.
“Whether it is the construction and development of highways or the construction of government buildings, the provision of modern, quality, and sustainable facilities to the people of the province is the primary responsibility of the Communications and Works Department,” the Provincial Minister stated.
He concluded by urging the department to aim to fulfill this responsibility with honesty, transparency, and professionalism.
