ISLAMABAD : In a startling revelation on Samaa TV’s program “Mere Sawal,” PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has laid bare the deepening fissures within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), revealing that differences have transformed into outright hostility and that the party is completely unprepared for the much-hyped September 27 march.
Marwat, a Member of the National Assembly, claimed that the controversy surrounding Mashal Yousafzai stems from her close familial ties to Bushra Bibi, the wife of the party’s founder. He disclosed that efforts were made to block Yousafzai from receiving a Senate ticket, but the founder himself had personally intervened to ensure she was awarded one .
Marwat further alleged that Salman Akram Raja and Junaid Akbar had objected to Yousafzai, stating that she criticizes the party. He claimed that during a meeting with the founder, Yousafzai said Raja had apologized to her in his presence. Marwat also noted that the conflict between Bushra Bibi and Aleema Khan is not a recent development.
“Three Factions” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The PTI leader elaborated on the severe factionalism within the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), stating there are now three distinct groups. He identified them as one faction led by Sohail Afridi, a second comprising 40 to 45 MPAs, and a third group loyal to Ali Amin Gandapur . Marwat predicted that Sohail Afridi would stand isolated on the issue of the planned long march, and insisted that any march should only be announced after these differences are resolved. “The differences have turned into hostility,” he warned.
Questions Over Finances and Leadership
Marwat also raised serious questions about the party’s financial transparency. He claimed that Shahbaz Gul was introduced to the founder by Faiz Hameed and alleged that a deputy superintendent was arrested in connection with this. He asserted that Ali Amin had given Rs 72 crore to the party, but the funds were “eaten” and questioned where the money for the November victims and bail payments had gone, demanding an answer from the Secretary General .
In a direct attack on the party’s legal leadership, Marwat stated that all the lawyers belong to the Aleema Khan group. He claimed Barrister Gohar is not the founder’s lawyer, and that Salman Safdar has taken money “for nothing” over the past three years .
No March on September 27
Despite recent claims from other party figures, Marwat categorically stated that there will be no PTI march on September 27. “There is no preparation, there is no order and consensus in the Tehreek-e-Insaf,” he declared . He added that Aleema Khan has expressed reservations about the march and questioned why anyone would be branded a traitor while accusations of treason are being thrown around. He further alleged that Sohail Afridi and Mohsin Naqvi met on August 4
