KARACHI: Gold prices have recorded a significant increase for the seventh consecutive day in both domestic and international markets.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Association, the price of 24-karat gold per tola increased by 4,200 Rupees, reaching 463,936 Rupees. Meanwhile, the price of 10 grams of gold rose by 3,601 Rupees to stand at 397,750 Rupees.
Over the past seven days, the price of gold per tola has surged by a total of 36,000 Rupees. In addition, the price of silver per tola increased by 146 Rupees to reach 7,111 Rupees. On the global front, the international gold price rose by 42 Dollars, bringing the rate to 4,415 Dollars per ounce.
The gold business in Pakistan operates at the intersection of deep-rooted cultural traditions and volatile economic fundamentals.
Traditionally, gold is viewed not merely as a commodity, but as the ultimate safe-haven asset and generational wealth reserve for Pakistani households.
Driven by persistent local inflation, currency depreciation, and surging global bullion rates, domestic gold prices have scaled unprecedented highs, regularly crossing record thresholds tracked closely by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association.
This massive capital appreciation has transformed market dynamics. While investment demand remains resilient among high-net-worth individuals seeking a hedge against economic instability, retail jewellery trade faces a noticeable slowdown.
Astronomical per-tola rates have placed traditional heavy bridal sets beyond the reach of the average consumer, prompting a structural shift in buyer behavior.
Many consumers now opt for lighter 21K and 22K pieces, recycled old gold, or alternative precious metals like certified silver for adornment.
Consequently, local jewelers and bullion traders are adapting by introducing flexible, digitized savings models and certified alternative ornaments to sustain market liquidity in an increasingly challenging economic climate.
