QUETTA: An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 jolted parts of Balochistan, including Zhob and Chaman, on Wednesday, triggering panic among residents.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 15 kilometres, with its epicentre located 122km northeast of Zhob.
Tremors were felt in several areas, prompting residents to leave their homes and gather in open spaces amid fears of possible aftershocks.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
The latest tremors came days after a 4.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded near Pakistan’s coast. According to the PMD, the quake occurred at 8:31am near Keti Bandar at a depth of 40km. Its epicentre was located 156km southwest of Keti Bandar.
Three days earlier, tremors were also felt in Lahore and several other cities across Punjab. The earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale.

Pakistan is located in a seismically active region and experiences frequent earthquakes of varying intensity.
