KARACHI: Pakistan Customs have seized a large quantity of valuable cameras and electronic goods from the luggage of a passenger arriving from Dubai at Jinnah International Airport.
In this regard, the action was carried out during the checking of a passenger who had arrived in Karachi from Dubai. The Customs officials recovered 29 cameras, five camera lenses and other electronic items from the passenger’s luggage.
In this sense, the officials said the seized items included 19 digital cameras, along with 10 fitness bands and other electronic equipment.
The recovered goods were found to be of significant commercial value and were taken into custody by the Customs authorities for further examination and legal proceedings.
The total value of the seized goods is approximately Rs5.5 million.
The recovery was made during routine scrutiny and inspection of the passenger’s baggage at the airport.
So far, the customs officials are currently examining the nature, value and intended use of the electronic items to determine the applicable legal and customs requirements.
The Customs authorities are also expected to determine whether the recovered items were properly declared and whether the passenger had fulfilled all applicable customs requirements upon arrival in Pakistan.
The seizure mentions the continued monitoring of international passenger traffic and baggage at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport to prevent the illegal or undeclared movement of commercial goods and electronic equipment.
