JEDDAH: The Pakistani students have achieved a remarkable success at the International Nuclear Science Olympiad 2026 (INSO) held in Saudi Arabia, securing one gold and two silver medals for the country in the international scientific competition.
Pakistani student Muhammad Ali delivered an outstanding performance to win the gold medal, while other members of the national team secured two silver medals.
The achievement has been welcomed as a significant milestone for Pakistan’s young scientific talent and its growing contribution to international science competitions.
In this regard, a four-member Pakistani team represented the country at the Olympiad, which brought together around 120 students and experts from 19 countries.
The competition provided young participants with an international platform to demonstrate their knowledge, technical skills and understanding of nuclear science.
The Pakistani team was prepared for the competition under the guidance and supervision of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).
In this sense, PIEAS University also played an important role by providing specialized training, academic guidance and preparation to the participating students.
The students were selected through the Pakistan Nuclear Science Olympiad, an initiative aimed at identifying talented young students from across the country and preparing them for international scientific competitions.
The programme seeks to encourage interest in nuclear science and other advanced scientific disciplines among Pakistani youth.
So far, Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for the fourth International Nuclear Science Olympiad in 2027.
Pakistan’s gold and two silver medals at the 2026 Olympiad, coupled with the country’s selection as host for the 2027 edition, are being regarded as positive developments for Pakistan’s scientific community.
The achievements underline the potential of Pakistani youth in advanced scientific fields and highlight the importance of continued investment in education, research, training and international scientific cooperation.
