QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has hailed the landmark joint defense agreement signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in Mecca as a historic milestone for regional peace and security.
The agreement, signed during the “Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defense,” stipulates that any armed attack against any of the three states will be regarded as an attack against all of them . Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan inked the agreement at Al-Safa Palace in Mecca .
In a statement issued on Friday, the Balochistan Chief Minister said the joint defense agreement will further strengthen mutual trust, cooperation, and strategic partnership between the three brotherly countries and provide a new dimension to their defense relations.
Mir Sarfaraz Bugti emphasized that the defense cooperation between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey would be instrumental in protecting the collective interests of the Ummah, bolstering regional security, and promoting common stability. According to him, the Mecca agreement reflects the shared resolve of the three nations for a safe, stable, and prosperous future .
The Chief Minister commended the role of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir in making this important defense agreement possible, describing the accord as the beginning of a new chapter for collective security in the region.
“This historic agreement signed in Mecca is the beginning of a new chapter of common security in the region,” Bugti stated.
The agreement builds on longstanding bilateral military ties among the three nations and carries symbolic weight, having been signed in Mecca, Islam’s holiest site . It brings together Pakistan—the only nuclear-armed Muslim country; Saudi Arabia—home to Islam’s holiest sites and a top oil exporter; and Turkiye—NATO’s second-largest military .
Analysts note that the three countries bring complementary strengths: Saudi Arabia provides financial clout, Pakistan contributes nuclear capability and manpower, while Turkiye offers military experience and advanced defense technology .
Mir Sarfaraz Bugti prayed that Allah Almighty would make this historic agreement a success for Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
