ISLAMABAD: The security forces killed 10 Khawarij during two separate counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said.
As per the ISPR statements, the operations were conducted on August 6 in South Waziristan and Dir districts.
The first operation took place in the general area of Azam Warsak in South Waziristan district, where a group of militants allegedly attempted to attack security forces’ check posts.
The ISPR said the attack was effectively repelled by troops, leading to an intense exchange of fire.
During the operation, security forces killed eight terrorists through what the military described as precise and effective engagements.
The statement added that the troops successfully foiled the attempted assault without allowing the attackers to achieve their objective. The security forces carried out another intelligence-based operation, during which two more suspected militants were killed, according to the military.
Meanwhile, the ISPR stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. The military further claimed that those killed had been actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.
The security forces launched sanitization operations in the affected areas to ensure that no remaining militants were present. The military said the clearance process would continue until the area was fully secured.
ISPR said the country’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue operations under the national counter-terrorism vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
The military reiterated its resolve to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism and maintain peace and stability across the country. It emphasized that intelligence-based operations and targeted actions against militant groups would continue at full pace to counter security threats.
