HYDERABAD: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested a wanted terrorist, identified as Somar Mallah, during a successful intelligence-based operation in Hyderabad’s Qasimabad area.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was conducted in the Sehrish Nagar locality, where law enforcement personnel successfully apprehended the accused. The arrest comes after Mallah had been on the run following an attack on a CTD police party last month.
During the operation, authorities recovered the weapon used in the July 30 incident from Mallah’s possession. Initial investigations reveal that the accused had opened fire on a CTD police party within the jurisdiction of Hattri police station, after which he became a wanted fugitive.
The CTD confirmed that one accomplice of the arrested terrorist managed to escape during the operation. Security forces have since established a blockade in the area to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
Local police were called in to assist the CTD during the operation, the spokesperson added. The search for the absconding accused and further investigations are currently underway
