ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced new prices for petroleum products, delivering a mixed bag for consumers as petrol prices see an increase while high-speed diesel becomes cheaper.
According to the official announcement, the price of petrol has been hiked by Rs 4.45 per liter, bringing the new rate to Rs 333.1 per liter. This marks a fresh increase for motorists already grappling with inflationary pressures.
In a contrasting move, the regulatory authority has reduced the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 2 per liter, setting the new price at Rs 383.86 per liter. The reduction offers some relief to the transport and agriculture sectors, which rely heavily on diesel for operations.
The revised prices come amid fluctuations in global oil markets and changes in exchange rates, which continue to influence domestic fuel pricing. The government regularly adjusts petroleum product prices to align with international trends and maintain stability in the energy sector.
Consumers and businesses alike will now await the impact of these adjustments on transportation costs and overall inflation.
