ISLAMABAD : Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday to review the country’s disaster preparedness and coordinated response mechanisms for the ongoing monsoon season.
During the high-level visit, the Chairman NDMA delivered a comprehensive briefing on the NEOC’s operational capabilities, with a particular focus on its technology-enabled response frameworks. The briefing included a detailed demonstration of “Disaster Lens 2026,” an advanced monitoring system that provided real-time visualizations of the prevailing monsoon weather patterns and Pakistan’s multi-hazard surveillance architecture.
Commending the NDMA’s efforts to strengthen the national disaster management capacity, the COAS emphasized the critical need for unwavering readiness, seamless inter-agency coordination, and rapid response execution to safeguard civilian lives and protect vital infrastructure from potential weather-related calamities.
In a firm reassurance to the civil administration, Field Marshal Munir affirmed that the Armed Forces of Pakistan remain fully prepared to extend comprehensive assistance to the NDMA and provincial governments. He confirmed that the military stands ready to actively support all phases of emergency management, including relief distribution, search and rescue operations, and post-disaster rehabilitation efforts across affected regions.
