PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned public rally in Peshawar on August 15, senior party leaders have reportedly called for comprehensive internal consultations before any major political announcement is made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi.
The organizational leadership has urged the chief minister to ensure that any decision regarding a large-scale protest movement, a possible long march to Islamabad, or any other significant political strategy is taken only after thorough consultation with party leaders, detailed planning, and adequate preparation of workers.
However, party insiders claim that the organizational leadership has not yet been formally taken into confidence regarding any such proposal.
In this regard, the senior party figures have reminded the chief minister of previous experiences in which important protest decisions were announced without extensive consultation. They cited the announcement of the “Imran Khan Release Force” campaign as an example, arguing that the initiative did not achieve its intended objectives due to insufficient planning and coordination.
They also noted that many party workers continue to face legal cases and court proceedings linked to earlier protest activities.
Meanwhile, the party insiders further recalled that a protest call issued outside Parliament before the federal budget also failed to produce the desired impact because of inadequate organizational preparation.
The leadership is reportedly emphasizing the need for a well-coordinated strategy, consensus among senior leaders, and comprehensive logistical planning before launching any new protest campaign.
They stressed that building internal consensus before the August 15 rally is essential to ensure unity within the party and improve the effectiveness of any future political strategy.
