PESHAWAR : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday strongly condemned the brazen terrorist attack on a police check post in the Khazina Banda area of Hangu district, demanding a detailed incident report from the Inspector General of Police.
In an official statement, the Chief Minister paid glowing tribute to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Diyar Khan and the other six police personnel who embraced martyrdom in the assault, describing their sacrifice as a powerful symbol of courage and unwavering commitment in the ongoing fight against terrorism. The attack also left 22 officers wounded, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, who are currently receiving medical treatment.
Expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, CM Afridi directed relevant authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical care to the injured personnel without any delay. He reaffirmed that the provincial government would extend every possible support to the families of the martyrs, ensuring their well-being during this time of immense grief.
“The sacrifices rendered by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the war against terrorism will never be forgotten,” the Chief Minister stated. He emphasized that maintaining peace remains the government’s foremost priority, and the supreme sacrifices of the police force will not be allowed to go in vain.
Afridi further asserted that the entire nation stands united against terrorism and that militants would be brought to their logical end. He also offered prayers for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks, patience and strength for their grieving families, and the speedy and complete recovery of the injured officers.
Background: According to District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Habib, terrorists launched a fierce assault on the Khazina Banda check post on Wednesday night. The initial attack resulted in the martyrdom of seven personnel, including DSP City Diyar Khan, while 22 others, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, sustained injuries. Police forces retaliated vigorously, killing eight terrorists and injuring six others. The injured militants were taken into custody, and authorities have confirmed that the operation against terrorist elements in the area will continue until the region is completely cleared of threats.
