QUETTA: Pakistan’s security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Khad Kocha of Mastung district of Balochistan, targeting a hideout belonged to Fitna al Hindustan (BLA) militants.
According to initial reports, security forces used an armed quadcopter to strike the suspected militant hideout during Operation Al-Azm.
Officials said the strike killed several militants and destroyed the hideout.
The military launched the operation to disrupt militant activities, deny armed groups safe havens and strengthen security in the area.
Security forces have begun a search and clearance operation to locate any remaining militants and eliminate potential threats.
Officials said the operation remains underway.
Pakistan’s security forces have intensified operations under Operation Al-Azm in recent weeks as part of efforts to dismantle militant infrastructure and improve security across Balochistan.
No independent confirmation of the reported casualties was immediately available, and the militant group did not comment on the operation.
Earlier this week, Pakistan launched a comprehensive counterterrorism campaign, Operation Al Azam in Balochistan after the province witnessed a surge in militant attacks, which share a border with Afghanistan where the BLA and TTP leaders have found sanctuary.
Earlier this month, security forces and law enforcement personnel jointly launched Operation Shaban in Balochistan in retaliation for a deadly attack on a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat on July 5. More than 135 militants associated with Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan were killed I in the operation.
