UAE Anticipates a Potential Three-Day Weekend

ISLAMABAD: Residents in the United Arab Emirates are looking at a potential three-day weekend in August for the occasion of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday.

The holiday is expected to fall on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, but authorities are likely to shift it to Monday, August 24, resulting in a continuous three-day break covering Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Under UAE regulations, certain public holidays falling mid-week can be moved to the beginning or end of the week, though the final date will be officially confirmed following the moon sighting.

Employees in both the public and private sectors receive paid leave on official public holidays, and those required to work on a holiday are entitled to extra compensation or time off in accordance with the law.
