ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Division has announced that the prices of petroleum products will remain unchanged on July 26 and 27, clarifying that no revisions will be made during the two-day period despite recent fluctuations in fuel prices.
The Petroleum Division stated that the existing prices, which came into effect on July 25, will continue to apply until July 27. The decision was attributed to the absence of updated international market price indicators, commonly known as Platts, over the weekend.
The price of Motor Spirit (Petrol) will remain at Rs335.18 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) will continue to be sold at Rs383.46 per litre. In addition, petroleum sources confirmed that the price of kerosene oil will also remain unchanged at Rs301.14 per litre until July 27.
The Petroleum Division explained that since international benchmark prices are not published during the weekend, no fresh price calculations could be carried out. As a result, the government decided to maintain the prevailing rates for the two-day period.
The clarification also referred to the press release issued on July 24, emphasizing that the prices implemented on July 25 would remain effective for both July 26 and July 27.
The announcement follows a series of consecutive revisions in petroleum prices over the past several days under Pakistan’s newly adopted daily fuel pricing mechanism.
The government increased the price of petrol by Rs3.66 per litre, while high-speed diesel became Rs4.80 per litre more expensive.
In this regard, the petrol prices had risen by Rs5.44 per litre, whereas diesel recorded a significant increase of Rs31.05 per litre. Subsequently, on July 21, petrol became Rs0.35 per litre cheaper, while diesel prices were increased by Rs5.71 per litre.
Meanwhile, on July 22, petrol prices increased by Rs4.93 per litre and diesel by Rs7.15 per litre. On July 23, petrol became Rs6.39 per litre more expensive, while diesel rose by Rs7.83 per litre. Another increase followed on July 24, with petrol going up by Rs4.40 per litre and diesel by Rs3.62 per litre.
