ISLAMABAD : The Supreme Court of Pakistan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the killing of District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar, who was martyred in an attack in Mastung, Balochistan.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi issued a condolence message paying rich tribute to Judge Kakar and his gunman, who also lost their lives in the assault. The chief justice extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the martyrs, praying that Allah Almighty grants the deceased a high place in paradise.
In his message, Chief Justice Afridi also prayed for the swift recovery of Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and the judicial magistrate who sustained injuries in the same attack.
Expressing the judiciary’s solidarity with the bereaved families, the chief justice announced that the Judicial Wellbeing Conference, which had been scheduled for July 25, has been postponed.
“Violence and threats cannot shake our resolve to provide justice,” the chief justice said, adding that Pakistan’s judiciary remains steadfast and unwavering in its commitment to the rule of law. He affirmed that the institution stands firmly with the families of the Balochistan martyrs during this hour of grief.
