ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday praised the security forces after they killed 10 India-backed militants and arrested two female suicide bombers along with a facilitator during counterterrorism operations in Balochistan.
The operation, carried out in the Surab and Mastung districts of Balochistan, targeted militants the military identifies as members of Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.
In a statement, Prime Minister Sharif commended the officers and personnel involved in the operation, describing it as a significant success in Pakistan’s ongoing campaign against militancy.
He praised the security forces for killing 10 militants and arresting two female suicide bombers and their alleged facilitator, saying the operation demonstrated the country’s resolve to combat terrorism.
“No one will be allowed to destroy peace in Balochistan,” the prime minister said.
Sharif vowed that Pakistan would continue its fight against terrorism until the threat was completely eliminated, describing militant groups as enemies of Balochistan’s peace, development and prosperity.
He also said the entire nation stood firmly behind the armed forces in their mission to safeguard the country’s security.
President Asif Ali Zardari also lauded the security forces for the operation, calling their actions against militant networks operating in Balochistan essential for maintaining national peace and stability.
He said operations against what Pakistan describes as Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij were vital to counter militant violence and protect the country.
Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its campaign against terrorism, including threats stemming from what he described as foreign interference.
“The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism,” the president said.
The statements came a day after the military announced that security forces had killed 10 militants and arrested two female suicide bombers during intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, as part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign.
