QUETTA: Six bodies have been recovered following severe flash floods triggered by torrential rains in the Landi Kotal and Jamrud tehsils of Khyber District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Rescue 1122 sources, a comprehensive search and rescue operation involving over 50 personnel and specialized diving teams was conducted across the affected areas.
Emergency teams managed to safely relocate more than 100 vehicles stranded in floodwaters along the Pak-Afghan Highway and retrieved six bodies from three vehicles swept away by the surge.
Officials confirmed that the victims include two young men recovered from Landi Kotal, as well as a woman and a child among four individuals retrieved from various locations in Jamrud.
All bodies have been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal formalities, bringing the total flood death toll in Khyber District to six.
Rescue 1122 reported that operations in Ali Masjid Camp, Landi Kotal, Sultan Khel, Jamrud, and Takhtabaig have been successfully completed, with key routes cleared and normal traffic flow restored.
However, response teams remain on high alert in the region. District Emergency Officer Engineer Shariq Riaz Khattak advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains, stay clear of streams and flooded areas, and keep children away from water bodies.
